The audio randomly shifts as if it's being projected from the microphone, and a temporary solution for this would be to disable the speaker and re-enable it. Sometimes it takes multiple times for this procedure to work, but it does the job anyways.
The instance it would shift from clear sound quality into being projected as if from the microphone is random. I know it seems as if it's coming out of the microphone because when I open the "Sound" tab and switch between "Playback" and "Recording" when I don't have any sound issues and I'm playing something with audio , the terrible sound quality that I randomly get is always the same when I'm on the "Recording" tab. After the newest Windows update whatever its name is that includes the Painter 3D and such, the sound issue isn't fixed by simply disabling and re-enabling the device and I have no clue what to do.

Thanks for your feedback. I tried it, and it said "device wasn't set to default" along with a green "fixed" icon, but nothing changed. Kindly check if the speakers are actually set as default already. If they are and you're still getting the same issue, you can use the System File Checker tool and DISM to see if missing or corrupted system files are causing the issue.
The steps are found on this link. I must say that I had the same problem, more or less. I believe that Microsoft updated your audio driver before doing the update to the latest Creators Update. I also had lousy sound, cracks and pops. What I did is to go back to the previous audio driver that was installed via the Device Manager. If you just uninstall and let Windows re-install the driver it will probably re-install the same driver or tell you I had a list of drivers available and I went back to a driver.
Now it has been 6 weeks since the update and I have had no problems. In fact, my 7 year old machine has never worked better. So you're suggesting I go back to the previous device? Well, I don't know how to do that, as I just uninstalled and re-installed and all that jazz without avail.
